The company demonstrated a brand new teaser for the match, which can be put on precisely the same planet as its critically acclaimed predecessor. This time, the activity will take in the heavens above Hyrule in addition to on property, with Link able to fly into islands drifting far above the Earth.

While the sequel has time to reach gamers, let us see the top 5 best Zelda games of all time.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is concurrently a reinvention of what you know about the Legend of Zelda in Addition to the next logical step for this series. It’s massive, ensuring you may run off in any direction and find something interesting, whether it’s a brand new pursuit, a small town off the beaten trail, a fascinating bit of scenery, or among over 100 mini-dungeons that force you to discover innovative ways to use your small-yet-versatile toolset. All it is wrapped in melancholy, its greatest monuments lying in post-cataclysmic destroy, as our hero attempts to rectify previous failures. Breath of the Wild ushered Zelda into the modern era, turning Hyrule into a truly open universe, a sprawling, lavish piece of property that held a treasure trove of secrets.

These twists in the formulation ultimately paid off. Breath of this Wild claimed the series’s virtually indescribable sense of wonder when pushing the franchise at a startling, wondrous new leadership emphasizing the freedom of exploration. It’s not only the best Zelda game (and Switch game), it’s arguably the best game ever produced. Nintendo is also working on a direct sequel to Breath of those Wild we can’t wait for.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Link’s Awakening, the first handheld entry in the franchise, transitioned out of an interface of A Link to the Past into the weirdest entrance in the iconic series. Featuring cameos from Kirby, a SimCity character, and 2D sidescrolling segments where Link hops on Goombas, Link’s Awakening had an experimental vibe to it which simply oozed charm. Swapping Hyrule to get Koholint Island, Link’s Awakening cemented itself as a unique and valiant foray into mobile adventuring. In 1998, Koholint Island was doused with color in Link’s Awakening DX.

Nintendo updated far more than simply the graphics. A cleaner inventory system allows Link to have more than two busy items simultaneously. Upgraded with a glowing visual style that makes all the denizens of Koholint Island resemble cute toy dolls, Link’s Awakening on Switch is superbly adorable. The stronger scavenger hu nt is complimented well by a map snare system created from Breath of the Wild. Link’s Awakening was always incredible, but the Switch movie solidifies it as the best top-down Zelda game ever produced.

3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Proving a fantastic aesthetic can outshine realism every time, Wind Waker remains one of the most beloved games in the series. Place in a version of Hyrule long covered by a gigantic body of water, that the last vestiges of society mete out an existence on islands that dot the ocean. You will navigate the waterways thanks to magic talking boat, investigate some of the greatest dungeons the series offers, and learn the secret ties its story shares with the Ocarina of Time. Some late-game padding prevents it from achieving a higher place on this list, though a lot of it is mitigated with a few useful additions and changes in the Wii U’s HD port. However, for a great 14 years, Wind Waker was the very best 3D Zelda game in its decades-long history.

The Wind Waker’s story is also among the best in the franchise, as it includes Link heading on a trip to rescue his sister. Princess Zelda still creates an appearance, though not in her usual form. The lore in Wind Waker, especially the ending, makes it one of the very peculiar and enlightening Zeldas. We also guess that The Wind Waker is the ideal entry point in the series for new Zelda players. We are still holding out for a port to Switch since the HD version is immobilized on the Wii U.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess is the fulfillment of this promise made by Nintendo’s early GameCube tech demos, and while it ultimately did not end up as unforgettable or beloved as the cartoony Wind Waker, it still holds a place in the pantheon of great Zelda experiences. Transform into a wolf, use some of this series’ most intriguing tools (the spinner stays one of my personal favorites), and explore the dark side of a world that resembles the Japanese anime take on Tim Burton’s earliest work.

Twilight Princess is one of those less adventurous Zeldas, in thrall to Ocarina of Time and also to the fans that wanted a”mature” counterpoint to Wind Waker. However, it also had a dark fairytale atmosphere that makes it stick in the memory.

5. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

What more could be said about a few of the greatest N64 games of time? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the best matches of all time. Most polls would probably deem it the very best in the series. And while we think it’s just out of the top three, that’s more of a nod to the franchise’s art than a sleight on OoT.

Ocarina of Time brought Zelda to the 3D age, making it the main evolution from the franchise. From the very first steps to the open terrain of Hyrule to the moment when Link retrieves Master Sword in the Temple of Time to the Last showdown with Ganon, Ocarina of Time was a real marvel at every turn. It has also aged far more gracefully than most early polygonal games and is every bit as engaging today as it had been in 1998.

It is impossible to divorce Ocarina of Time in the technological leap forward that it heralded for video games as a whole, as it arrived in 1998. This was the first virtual location you could ride around on horseback in 3D: walking into the open expanse of Hyrule Field, with that triumphant swelling soundtrack, was the start of a new age.
