‘Control 2’ is in development

Control 2 will be co-developed and co-published by Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games

Remedy Entertainment just announced that the award-winning game Control will be getting a sequel.

Control 2, which used to be called Codename Heron, will be made and sold by both 505 Games and Remedy Entertainment. Control 2 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At the moment, the game is just an idea.

Control came out in 2019 and was nominated for 11 BAFTA Games Awards. It also won more than 20 “Game of the Year” awards. The Northlight engine from Remedy will be used to make the second game. Control 2 will be published for PC by Remedy, while console versions will be published by 505 Games.

“We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, a sequel to Control,” announced Remedy Entertainment in their latest article.

“We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together,” shared Rami and Raffi Galante, co-CEOs of 505 Games. “Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.”

Back in June 2021, Remedy Entertainment said that they would work with 505 Games on a “bigger-budget Control game.” CEO of Remedy Tero Virtala said at the time, “I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-fledged sequel to our award-winning game Control.”

This news was first hinted at in June, when Remedy and 505 said they were working on new triple-A Control games. In the same update, a multiplayer spin-off game called Project Condor was announced to be coming out soon. Remedy also made a deal with Rockstar earlier this year to remake Max Payne 1 and 2.
