Technoblade, a 23-year-old Minecraft livestream and content creator, died of cancer over a year after declaring his condition.
Over the span of over a decade, YouTuber Technoblade gained over 10 million subscribers. The YouTuber’s first video is from 2013, and his channel demonstrates his love and enthusiasm for the game, as well as his amazing ingenuity. After revealing his diagnosis to fans last year, the YouTube star remained largely out of the spotlight while undergoing chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, Technoblade’s father published a final video to the YouTuber’s channel to announce the 23-year-old YouTuber’s passing. Technoblade, whose true name was Alex, succumbed to cancer and spent his final hours drafting a letter to his admirers for his father to read.
Technoblade died roughly eight hours after finishing the letter. The father of Technoblade described his son’s final days and expressed his love for his child before the screen went blank and a message from his family appeared. The family discussed Technomancer’s aim to “delight and reward his audience” with his films and other endeavours. His family stated that he desired for his true identity to remain private and has requested that the audience continue to respect his wishes and the family’s privacy.
“This past year had a lot of rough spots for our son as he battled stage four cancer,” wrote Technoblade’s family. “But he didn’t complain, and kept using his famous strategic mind to try to beat what he knew were almost impossible odds. My son’s bravery on this path was a shining lesson to all of us who were privileged to walk it with him. Thank you for sharing his journey through it all, as he did the work he loved for his beloved fans.”
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time. As those were the happiest years of my life,” Techno said.
“I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh. I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous, and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
After Technos’s final message, his father adds that he intended to create and record the video himself before his death, but his health and other issues stopped him from doing so. According to his father, he penned the note from his bed and died approximately eight hours later.
Throughout the next month, Minecraft players on the popular Hypixel Server can write a message for Technoblade’s family. As a tribute, these condolences will be printed and distributed to his family.
Technoblades will continue to operate his merchandise store, donating all earnings to the charity’s preferred partner, The Sarcoma Foundation of America, to further their mission. This includes the launch of a lengthy, so long nerds collection commemorating his life in the world’s most exquisite fashion.
